What Your Job Will Be Like:

As a EMS Medical Director you will provide medical care to Sandia National Laboratories employees through the occupational medicine organization by acting as the Emergency Medical Services Director. Diagnoses, treats, and manages injuries and illnesses. Provides administrative oversight of EMS Paramedics in New Mexico and Nevada.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

  • Function as a Medical Director for SNL/NM Emergency Medical Dispatchers (EMDs); provide MPDS protocol oversight
  • Approve site-specific emergency medical services procedures for Emergency Medical Technician- Paramedics (EMT-P)
  • Assist in the oversight of the EMS program; policy development, operations, procedures, quality assurance, and personnel direction
  • Function as Medical Director for the National Training Center (NTC) paramedics, directing the overall medical operation, procedures, and protocols
  • Review and critique all pre-hospital EMS patient care provided within SNL/NM
  • Participate in scheduled drill and exercise planning
  • Establish certification and training guidelines for EMS personnel
  • Maintain contact with community committees (e.g. Alliance, National Disaster Medical System/MMRS, Medical Control Board, and Local Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC), UNM EMS Consortium)
  • Lead the scheduled Medical Emergency Response Team (MERT) and EMS team
  • Maintain certification as a Medical Control Emergency Physician (MCEP)

Due to the nature of the work, the selected applicant must be able to work onsite.

This is a recurrent employee position, meaning the position is required to hold a specific certification and license. Recurrent employees are part-time employees reporting to meet minimum force requirements in special operational areas.

Qualifications We Require:

  • Current NM Licensure
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Q clearance.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Nevada license.
  • Travel to Nevada site as needed.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain BLS, ACLS, and any other certifications required.

Qualifications We Desire:

  • Experience as an EMS Medical Director.
  • Flexibility with schedule based on EMS director needs.

Center 03700 is Sandia's multi-disciplinary occupational health center that provides occupational medical services, acute care, and walk-in health care services to employees, prevention and wellness services, as well as behavioral health and EAP services to our employee population.
