Research Technician I - Griffin Lab (Part-Time)

Department: Cardiovascular Biology

Position Overview and Responsibilities
The Griffin Lab in the Cardiovascular Biology Research Program is seeking a detail-oriented, part-time Research Technician to support ongoing studies in mouse lung biology. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys hands-on bench work and wants to contribute to research spanning endothelial cell biology, flow cytometry, proteomics, and tissue histology. Training will be provided as needed, and the position is available immediately.
Responsibilities:
  • Perform mouse lung tissue digestion and endothelial cell isolation
  • Prepare cells for flow cytometry and proteomics studies
  • Prepare tissue for microscopic analysis, including sectioning and staining
  • Follow established protocols and maintain accurate, organized records

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in the biological sciences, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Strong attention to detail, with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to read and follow written instructions, correspondence, and protocols
  • Comfort with basic laboratory calculations (rate, ratio, percentage, molarity, and unit conversions)
  • Ability to handle samples and chemicals with precision and care

Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in the biological sciences, or equivalent professional, paid laboratory experience
  • Prior experience with, or knowledge of, mouse tissue preparation techniques
  • Background or interest in cardiovascular biology

Work Hours
Approximately 20 hours per week: two full 8-hour days and one half-day, scheduled between 8:30 AM and 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday. Some flexibility is available.
