Job Description
Summary
The Buffington Lab in the Center for Precision Environmental Health is looking for a talented individual to join the team.
This position requires an individual who is self-motivated with existing research experience capable of independently preparing and organizing lab reagents, performing experiments, record keeping, and producing novel ideas. The primary responsibility for this position will be animal care and handling while supporting and collaborating with other team m embers as they conduct research.
Job Duties
- Perform mouse colony maintenance to include small animal experiments.
- Perform daily health checks on animals.
- Change animal cages, food, and water as scheduled or needed while maintaining sterile conditions.
- Collect and store samples while maintaining strict inventory systems.
- Perform genotyping of transgenic lines.
- Assist with molecular and behavioral (mouse) neuroscience studies, as needed.
- Evaluate and analyze data related to mouse colonies.
- Document results of experiments and reports to principal investigators.
- Track the inventory for reagents and ensure necessary supplies are stocked.
- Actively contribute to team, project, and lab-wide meetings.
- Perform other job related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a Basic Science or related field. Four years of related experience may substitute for degree requirement.
- No experience required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience in rodent colony management and behavioral neuroscience.
- Candidate should be comfortable with molecular neuroscience techniques as well as animal handling and behavior.
Work Authorization Requirement:
