What Your Job Will Be Like:

Sandia National Laboratories is seeking a Senior Management Assistant (SMA) to support our Nuclear Deterrence System Modernization Center (Center 2300), our Center Director, and our office team. The SMA will play a crucial role in ensuring the office operates efficiently, working independently under general direction while collaborating with other Administrative Professionals to lead administrative activities. Key responsibilities include performing complex administrative duties to support the Center's programs and projects, providing backup support to the Division office, coordinating activities with other organizations, conducting analyses, and presenting findings. The SMA may also represent the Center on corporate or divisional task forces. The quality of your work will significantly impact customer satisfaction, operational costs, and the achievement of organizational objectives, ultimately enhancing the efficiency of the Center Office. Center 2300 is a dynamic, close-knit team that values collaboration and innovation. In this role, you'll have the exciting opportunity to work closely with a diverse range of internal and external partners, driving impactful projects that make a real difference.

On any given day, you may be called on to:

  • Exercise considerable discretion, judgment, and professionalism when handling high-level contacts and sensitive information.
  • Facilitate Center Office and interdivisional communications
  • Draft initial communications for the Director's review
  • Manage the Director's calendar to optimize time commitments
  • Prioritize incoming requests to enhance the Director's efficiency
  • Assist with hiring and onboarding processes
  • Coordinate logistics for meetings and events for the Director and Center
  • Arrange domestic and international travel for the Director
  • Facilitate center-wide events
  • Coordinate technical requirements for classified and unclassified conferences, on-line meetings, and video teleconferences
  • Ensure smooth office operations and effective organization within the Center Office
  • Implement efficient records management processes with appropriate confidentiality
  • Serve as the property and training coordinator for the Director/Center
  • Facilitate incoming and outgoing visitor coordination
  • Process facility and move requests
  • Demonstrate knowledge of and adherence to organizational policies and procedures
  • Arrange teleconferences and videoconferences to enhance communication
  • Complete work on the Sandia Classified Network.

Mentorship and Guidance for Administrative Professionals:

  • Provide training and support to other Administrative Professionals as needed
  • Serve as a center-wide resource and role model for Administrative Professionals
  • Assist in hiring, onboarding, and training new Administrative Professionals
  • Foster team collaboration across the Center, Division, and Laboratories

Due to the nature of the work, the selected applicant must be able to work onsite full-time.

Salary Range:

$63,800 - $105,400

*Salary range is estimated, and actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate's experience and qualifications, and application of any approved geographic salary differential.

Qualifications We Require:

  • High school diploma or equivalent, plus five (5) or more years of directly related experience
  • Successfully passed the required tests, based on Sandia specified Administrative Professional testing requirement
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office software to effectively perform your duties

Applicants must meet the minimum prerequisites to be scheduled for testing. Applicants should be prepared to test immediately after completing the application process. Upon successful test completion, the manager will be notified. Interviews will be scheduled for applicants who have successfully passed the test and have been identified as top candidates by the manager. Passing the test does not guarantee an interview or selection.

  • ND&S Knowledge/Experience of the Nuclear Deterrence mission

About Our Team:

We are systems integrators who collaborate with organizations across Sandia, the Nuclear Security Enterprise, government, and industry to deliver modern weapon systems for our nation's security. Center 2300 partners with Center 8200 to lead the Laboratories' efforts to modernize and/or develop integrated engineering solutions for the next generation of nuclear weapon systems from concept to stable full-rate production. Security Clearance:
