Summary

This position focuses on investigating neural computation in the early auditory pathway, with an emphasis on cochlear nucleus and brainstem circuits. The Staff Scientist will employ state-of-the-art electrophysiology (Neuropixels recordings), two-photon imaging, and computational analysis to study how sensory input and brain state shape neural population responses. The role requires developing and applying custom code for data processing, statistical analysis, and modeling of large-scale neural datasets. This work aims to uncover fundamental principles governing auditory information processing at the earliest stages of the mammalian brain.

Job Duties

  • Design and execute advanced experiments to study neural processing in the early auditory pathway, focusing on cochlear nucleus and brainstem circuits using Neuropixels electrophysiology and two-photon imaging.
  • Develop and apply custom computational pipelines (e.g., Python/MATLAB) to analyze large-scale neural datasets and prepares figures, reports, and written materials for manuscripts, presentations, and grant submissions.
  • Support day-to-day laboratory operations, ensure data and equipment quality control.
  • Perform other job related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Doctoral Degree. Experience may not be substituted in lieu of degree.
  • Three years of post doctoral research experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Doctoral degree in neurobiology, biology or related fields
  • Experience in auditory neuroscience
