Summary

A Postdoctoral Associate position in proteomics is available in the laboratory of Dr. Nicolas Young in the Verna & Marrs McLean Department of Biochemistry & Molecular Pharmacology at Baylor College of Medicine. Postdoctoral Associate will join an established NIH funded laboratory that is focused on developing innovative proteomics approaches and using these to new methods to address basic science and human health relevant questions. As a postdoctoral associate in a dynamic research program, will have unparalleled opportunities for scientific and career advancement.

Job Duties

  • Utiizes proteomics to identify and quantitate post-translational modifications (PTMs) and single molecular combinations of PTMs (proteoforms).
    • Nanoflow liquid chromatography.
    • Quantitative top-down proteomics.
    • Electron transfer dissociation.
    • Uses novel in house data analysis algorithms.
  • Works on experimental design and data analysis.
  • Presents results to supervisor and colleagues.
  • Contributes to the preparation of manuscripts for publication.
  • Works as part of a cross-disciplinary team where each member will be able to enhance their previous experience with new skills and expertise.
  • Learns new skills and develops the ability to execute all aspects of deeply multi-disciplinary projects.
  • Works as a team, contributes in your primary expertise and benefiting from others, to address cutting edge, high impact problems.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • MD or Ph.D. in Basic Science, Health Science, or a related field.
  • No experience required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ph.D. from an accredited institution.
  • Expertise in proteomics.
  • A good publication record.
  • Efficient time management skills and a strong work ethic.
  • Excellent scientific writing skills and be able to take a leading role in the writing and publication of diverse scientific articles addressing advances in methodology and functional and mechanistic inquiry into fundamental biology.

Work Authorization Requirement:
