The successful candidate:

This position includes a $5,000 sign-on bonus (subject to eligibility requirements).

The Interventional Radiology Technologist performs high quality imaging to support a wide range of interventional oncology procedures, including biopsies, drain placements, vascular access, ablations, embolization’s, and other minimally invasive cancer related interventions. This role involves operating and maintaining fluoroscopy units, CT scanners, ultrasound devices, and digital imaging systems while ensuring all equipment and procedure rooms are prepared according to sterile technique and hospital protocols. Technologists assist physicians throughout procedures by anticipating clinical needs, managing imaging guidance, and ensuring optimal visualization. In addition to technical responsibilities, the technologist provides clear explanations to patients and families to reduce anxiety, offers compassionate support tailored to the unique needs of oncology patients, and maintains strict radiation safety practices for all individuals involved. Collaboration is essential, as the technologist coordinates with oncology, surgery, pathology, and nursing teams to support efficient scheduling and patient flow, accurately documents all procedural and imaging information in the electronic medical record, and actively participates in quality assurance, equipment maintenance, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Education/Experience Level

  • High School graduate or equivalent.
  • Completes formal Radiologic Technology training in an AMA approved school and is registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technology in Vascular Interventional Radiology, ARRT (VI).
  • Possesses current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification.
  • Completes a minimum of 24 hours of continuing education bi-annually
  • Remains “in compliance” with the American Registry of Radiologic Technology’s continuing medical education requirement (CME).
  • Minimum of two years' experience after graduation in a major hospital setting.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Knowledge in diagnostic radiography.
  • Proficient in angiography/interventional radiology.
  • Knowledge of surgery and mammography a plus/
  • Knowledge of work practices in emergency procedures to protect from exposure to chemical, radiation and infectious hazards.
  • Ability to take initiatives, make independent judgments and work efficiently without constant supervision.
  • Ability to perform efficiently and remain calm in emergency patient situations.
  • Strong, communication, collaboration and coordination skills with physicians, radiologic technologists, and hospital staff to provide quality patient care and achieve department objectives.

City of Hope employees pay is based on the following criteria: work experience, qualifications, and work location.

Salary / Pay Rate Information:
Pay Rate: $34.17 - $56.29 / hour

The estimated pay scale represents the typical [salary/hourly] range City of Hope reasonably expects to pay for this position, with offers determined based on several factors which may include, but not be limited to, the candidate’s experience, expertise, skills, education, job scope, training, internal equity, geography/market, etc. This pay scale is subject to change from time to time.
