The Biomedical Engineering Manager is responsible for overseeing the maintenance, management, and optimization of medical equipment. The Manager plays a critical role in ensuring the safety, functionality, and compliance of medical devices while aligning technology with patient care objectives. This role ensures the seamless operation of medical equipment, enhances patient safety, and aligns biomedical engineering services with the organization’s goals.

As a successful candidate, you will:

  • Manage and oversee biomedical engineering staff, including biomedical engineers and technicians.

  • Manage hiring, training, and staff development to ensure technical proficiency and high performance.

  • Oversee the installation, maintenance, repair and calibration of all medical devices and equipment.

  • Develop and implement maintenance programs to maximize equipment uptime and longevity.

  • Develop and manage the department budget, ensuring cost- effective operations.

  • Plan and forecast for equipment and capital investments.

  • Assess risks related to medical devices and ensure mitigation strategies are in place.

  • Respond to equipment-related emergencies and implement corrective actions promptly.

  • Evaluate emerging medical technologies for potential adoption.

  • Develop long-term strategies for medical equipment procurement and lifecycle management.

  • Partner with clinical staff to understand equipment needs and align them with patient care objectives.

  • Work with IT and facilities teams to integrate and maintain connected devices and systems.

Your qualifications should include:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Engineering, Clinical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related technical fields.

  • 7+ years of experience in clinical engineering or biomedical equipment management.

  • 3+ years in a leadership or managerial role.

  • Certified Clinical Engineer (CCE) by ACCE/HTCC

  • Certified Biomedical Equipment Technician (CBET)

  • Proficiency in using CMMS software for maintenance management.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree

  • Certified Healthcare Technology Manager (CHTM) or equivalent certification preferred.

Additional Information:

Job Status: Full time, exempt

Salary range $104,509 - $174,530

City of Hope employees pay is based on the following criteria: work experience, qualifications, and work location.
