Job Description

Rani George at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. Our research focuses on the identification of molecular targets in cancer cells that can be translated into novel therapies in pediatric solid tumors. The candidate will join a team of investigators leading these efforts in the academic environment, working at the bench and collaborating closely with other members of the laboratory. The candidate will spend 50% of time performing duties under the direction of an Instructor in the laboratory and the remainder in general lab duties as detailed below.

We are looking for candidates who have at least 2 years of availability.

  • Performs technical procedures (experiments) as directed
  • Participate in team meetings for experimental planning
  • Operate and maintain laboratory equipment
  • Prepare, order, and maintain stocks of necessary reagents, solutions and supplies
  • Deal with vendors
  • General lab organization
  • May include animal husbandry
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Biology or related field required (recent graduates encouraged)
  • Familiarity with basic laboratory techniques and principles of molecular biology (Preference given to candidates with mouse handling experience)
  • Working knowledge of computers and experience with databases
  • Basic mathematical skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills (English)
  • Strong organizational skills, including the ability to handle a variety of tasks simultaneously.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • Knowledge of information and techniques related to either biology, chemistry, or medicine is preferred.
  • Must have excellent communication skills (written and verbal) and be able to work with a wide variety of faculty and staff.
  • Ability to analyze information and use logic to address work-related issues and problems.
  • Must have attention to detail and be thorough in completing work tasks.
  • Ability to work within a team environment.
