Job Description

Summary

This position will contribute to the strategic efforts and lead implementation for pre and/or post-award grant activities for the Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Cancer Center and Clinical Research Office. This includes planning, execution, and coordination and management of all grant related submissions and financial reconciliation for the Cancer Center. The main goal of this position is to provide contract submission support and coordinate all grant/clinical trial related activities to support Clinical Research Office (CRO) level projects. The role will also take on special projects for post-award activities as needed. This position also provides training to junior pre/post-award staff to help them succeed in the role.

Employees with CRA certification are eligible for certification pay.

Job Duties

  • Provides support by training other research administration support staff and coordinating pre-award and/or post award activities and tasks.
  • Serves as a point of contact for faculty regarding general grants and contracts inquiries and transactions.
  • Coordinates the pre-award grant review and application process for faculty applying for federal, state, and private funding.
  • Oversees award processing, including verification and quality control of data entry.
  • Prepares budget allocation for grant/contract submission.
  • Reviews and negotiates research contracts and agreements with industry and academic institutions.
  • Contributes to the preparation of budgets for grant/contract's quarterly and annual reports.
  • Assists in overseeing the activities of sponsored programs analysts.
  • Coordinates thorough, but timely, review and approval of grant applications and associated budgets.
  • Certifies data in electronic proposal system-Biomedical Research and Assurance Information Network (BRAIN).
  • Prepares reports using BRAIN data and contract tracking data.
  • Presents information related to grants and contracts to faculty, students, and staff.
  • Point of contact for general grants and contracts related questions and transactions.
  • Reviews and updates documentation pertinent to grants, including application guidelines, contracts, invoices, close-out financial reports, etc.
  • Works with the Principal Investigator and Grants and Contracts team to open, close, and monitor, grant, subcontract, and unrestricted and pending accounts.
  • Tracks documentation, uploads documents, and communicates with central departments to troubleshoot blocked invoices and purchase orders.
  • Maintains records for each grant or account, including applications, communication with sponsor, etc.
  • Coordinates additional projects and programs related to the grant and Principal Investigator.
  • Performs other job related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree. Certified Research Administrator certification through the Research Administrators Certification Council (RACC) may substitute for the degree requirement.
  • Four years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experiencemanaging large scale grants and multi-center projects.
  • Heavy experience with research finance.
  • Post award grant management experience.
  • Prior knowledge withinvoicing for grants, contract familiarity.
