Job Description
Summary
The section of internal medicine is seeking a qualified candidate for an Advanced Practice Provider (APP) position in a critical care role at the Lester & Sue Smith Breast Center, Dan L Duncan Comprehensive Cancer Center, at Baylor College of Medicine in the Texas Medical Center. This APP will provide medical care for patients with breast cancer or breast health issues in the outpatient clinic under the direction of a physician. The candidate will be required to provide clinical excellence, scholarly enthusiasm, and a track record of excellent clinical performance.
Job Duties
· Obtain detailed history and perform physical examinations including breast exams.
· Perform, order, and interpret diagnostic procedures in accordance with relevant health concerns of the patient.
· Prescribes appropriate pharmacological and non-pharmacological treatments.
· Be familiar with chemotherapy and management of side effects.
· Maintain records and write orders and progress notes in patient charts as to status, treatments, and procedures.
· Provide follow-up health maintenance care to patients in accordance with protocols established with the supervising physician.
· Communicate with physicians, patients, and the family members of patients concerning patient care.
· Proficient use of Epic in the delivery of care.
· Collaborates with providers, and practice staff in identifying appropriate patients for care management.
Minimum Qualifications
Education Required:
- Physician Assistant Candidates: Master’s degree in physician assistant studies. Bachelor’s degree in physician assistant studies accepted based on terminal degree requirements at time of graduation.
- Nurse Practitioner Candidates: Master’s degree in nursing.
Certification/Licenses/Registration:
- Physician Assistant Candidates: Current license as a Physician Assistant by the State of Texas Physician Assistant Board.
- Nurse Practitioner Candidates: Current license as a Registered Nurse (RN) by the State of Texas Board of Nursing. Current Texas Licensure as an Advanced Practice Nurse (APRN-NP).
Experience Required: None required.
Specialty certification as required by department.
Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.
