Job Description
Summary
The Department of Surgery at Baylor College of Medicine is seeking Research Technician I to perform the routine elements of basic and translational research that requires the use of skills, technical and academic knowledge to follow established procedures and record results. The Research Technician I will be motivated, organized, and team-oriented who is comfortable working with cell cultures and mice to study lung injury and healing as it relates to lung transplantation.
Job Duties
- Conducts research experiments using standard molecular techniques such as PCR, western blot, flow cytometry, among other techniques.
- Harvestscell cultures and maintain cultures for in-vitro experiments.
- Performs experiments in mice thatdeliverstreatments via intratracheal, intraperitoneal, and intravascular routes.
- Prepares biological specimens for analysis that includes mouse tissue.
- Collects data and maintain records.
- Documents for results of experiments.
- Orders laboratory supplies and equipment.
- Performs routine elements of research work that requires the use of skills and technical or academic knowledge to follow established procedures and record results.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Associate's degree in a Basic Science or related field. Two years of related experience may substitute for degree requirement.
- One year of relevant experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Has prior animal work experience.
- Experience with flow cytometry.
