Summary
The Boeynaems and Arey labs are recruiting an Assistant Laboratory Director who will support both labs in a split 75%-25%. The Assistant Laboratory Director will assist both PIs in managing their respective labs, performing different tasks from ordering, stocking inventory, organizing events and other managerial tasks. Will also perform part-time wet lab research in the Boeynaems lab, focusing on yeast experimentation and other wet lab techniques. The ideal candidate is an outstanding lab citizen, diligent and rigorous, self-motivated and has prior experience in yeast genetics.
Job Duties
- Oversees the budget allocation and expenditure of all grant funding, including federal, state and private foundation funding.
- Ensures lab and laboratory personnel compliance to the prevailing regulations and policies issued by BCM and TCH. Examples include fire safety, chemical inventory, etc.
- Coordinates the purchasing of equipment and supplies and manages all stages of the ordering process, including working with Jaggaer and Quartzy.
- Manages the use of laboratory equipment including maintenance, repair, and inventory. Examples include centrifuges, pipettes, microscopes, incubators, etc.
- Conducts laboratory experimentation alongside the Principal Investigators or other lab members. Examples include biochemical assays, microscopy, cell culture, plasmid preparation, etc.
- Assists the Principal Investigators with coordinating and organizing work-related events.
- Assists the Principal Investigators with other managerial tasks.

Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a Basic Science or related field.
- Four years of relevant experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with ordering systems (i.e., Jaggaer)
