Summary
At the Lester and Sue Smith Breast Center at Baylor College of Medicine we study almost every aspect of breast health and disease and are focused entirely on strategies to prevent, diagnose and treat all breast cancer. We are a multidisciplinary center with an emphasis on translational research. The Center is committed to education and training of our students. Our primary goal is to advance our research mission and goals.Cross-training and transparency among the admin team is encouraged and practiced. This is a hybrid role working at least three days a week in office after completing initial training period.
Employees with CRA certification are eligible for certification pay.
Job Duties
- Submits and monitors grant applications and work with SPO for 3-4 faculty (pre- and/or post-award grant management).
- Maintains the daily, monthly, and quarterly research financial accounting activities and reports.
- Conducts financial analysis and prepares special financial reports requested by Administrator when needed.
- Manages federal, state and industry grants, contracts & subcontract submissions internally and externally.
- Serves as point of contact between the Office of Research (OOR), sponsors, PIs, collaborating institutions.
- Gathers and creates documents necessary for grant submission including budget, budget justification, other support, statement of work, etc and communicate timelines to faculty to ensure applications are submitted on time to central office for review and approval. Review and approve grant application proposals for sections assigned in the College's electronic Biomedical Research and Assurance Information Network (BRAIN).
- Ensures compliance with all guidelines for funding purpose.
- Makes recommendations for process improvement to increase efficiency and implement changes.
- Attends workshops on research administration for continued education and contribute to the development and improvement of the pre-/post- award management process.
- Completes quarterly effort reporting in ERS.
- Approves Concur submissions for assigned faculty.
- Assists in Center budget submission (BPC).
- Participates in monthly meetings with other research admin associates and Administrator.
- Maintains up-to-date Other Support and biosketches for assigned faculty.

Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree. Certified Research Administrator certification through the Research Administrators Certification Council (RACC) may substitute for the degree requirement.
- Four years of relevant experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiar with BRAIN and grants applications, PowerBI, S4, etc.
- Must be a team player and work well within a group.
