Summary
The Department of Pediatrics, Division of Adolescent Medicine and Sports Medicine at Baylor College of Medicine/Texas Children's Hospital (TCH) is seeking a nurse practitioner to join our Division in The Woodlands as a full-time Instructor. The position offers a competitive salary, benefits and malpractice insurance.
Job Purpose
Provides and coordinates advanced care to patients in a clinical setting in an area of specialization under the direction of a physician.
Job Duties
The scope of care will be weight management (i.e., obesity and eating disorders) with the opportunity to expand scope in the future
This position will provide advanced nursing care in a clinical setting under the direction of a physician
NP sees new and established patients independently with physician backup as appropriate
Obtain detailed history and perform physical examinations.
Perform, order, and interpret diagnostic procedures in accordance with relevant health concerns of the patient.
Prescribes appropriate pharmacological and non-pharmacological treatments.
Maintain records and write orders and clinic notes in patient charts as to status, treatments, and procedures.
Monitors and ensures accuracy of recording on patient medical records.
Communicate with physicians, patients, and the family members of patients concerning patient care.
Collaborates with providers, and practice staff in identifying appropriate patients for care management.
Screens referrals of patients to decide on the urgency of the referral.
Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
For Nurse Practitioner: Master's degree in in Nursing.
Certification/Licenses/Registration:
For Nurse Practitioner: Current license as a Registered Nurse (RN) by the State of Texas Board of Nursing. Current Texas Licensure as an Advanced Practice Nurse (APRN-NP), and specialty certification as required by department.
