Summary

The Mills Lab has an exciting opportunity for a newly graduated PhD student who seeks postdoctoral training in stem cells, regeneration, and how they contribute to tumorigenesis. Graduating students with experience in developmental biology or cell biology are encouraged to apply for this position. The laboratory is focused on studying conserved aspects of how stem cells are recruited from differentiated cells via a process known as paligenosis. We use a highly dynamic approach that includes: mouse genetic models, cell culture models, 3D mouse and human organoid cultures, and human gastrointestinal tissues. Further, we apply transcriptomics, proteomics, metabolomics approaches to dissect the role for autophagy, transcriptional regulation of gene expression, organelle trafficking, and metabolic regulation of cell fate. The successful candidate will join our exciting research team located at the main campus of Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas. Job Duties

• Plans, directs, and conducts specialized and advanced research experiments under the mentorship and guidance of Dr. Jason Mills.
• Evaluates and analyzes data.
• Establishes new research protocols and procedures pertinent to the projects.
• Summarizes research findings and publish results in research journals.
• Maintains laboratory operations.
• Hasthe opportunity to supervise junior graduate students or undergraduates in the lab.
• Postdoctoral fellows will be asked to help review manuscripts related to their area of research and to help write grants related to their research as these are essential components of a broad training program.
• Fellows will be expected to participate in weekly lab meetings to share work in progress
• Fellows will also present routinely at a journal club papers chosen are relevant to the research to provide important context and perspectives.
  

Minimum Qualifications

• MD or Ph.D. in Basic Science, Health Science, or a related field.
• No experience required.

Preferred Qualifications

• The candidates should have excellent communication skills, be highly self-motivated and work well in a team.
