Job Description
PFIZER is hiring a talented, innovative and motivated Medical Affairs Scientists (MAS) Rare Disease
The purpose of the Medical Affairs Scientist (MAS) role is to facilitate the interaction/partnership between healthcare professionals (HCPs), medical societies and other healthcare-related organisations, academia and Pfizer.The MAS is responsible for leading medical to medical communications in the field with healthcare professionals and other relevant customers within a given therapeutic area by providinghigh-level scientific,clinical and research support.
The core responsibility of the position is to communicate information about Pfizer’s science and gather valuable insights according to the MAS’s stakeholder plan. The MAS will also identify and facilitate educational, research and other partnerships between external stakeholders and Pfizer, including by supporting investigator and Pfizer sponsored research activities. The MAS will execute the therapy area (TA) strategy under the guidance of the TA medical lead.
The MAS will be expected to develop and maintain expert subject matter knowledge in the given TA. The ability to assist with defining product strategy is required and as such the MAS is a core member of the TA Team.
The MAS is a key contributor for ensuring the company’s medical compliance to high standards of conduct in all its dealings with the medical profession and supporting health care disciplines, and with consumers
ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES
Lead proactive and reactive medical to medical communications in the field betweenhealthcare professionalsand the medical functions within Pfizer
Provide expertise and support to disease area/TA under scope
Gather and analyse customer insights to help shape Pfizer medical activities that appropriately support customer needs
Develop and maintain a comprehensive stakeholder map to identify relevant HCPs, medical societies, and other relevant external stakeholders
Identify and facilitate educational, research and other partnerships between external stakeholders and Pfizer
Provide medical/ scientific expertise for the assigned therapeutic areas to Commercial, Marketing and other relevant functions (e.g., conducting trainings, disseminates scientific information)
Address field and customer queries on Pfizer medicines and research as well as handling compassionate use requests. Manage inquiries as per procedure.
Scientific expert and stakeholder management for HCPs, medical societies and other healthcare-related organisations, academia
Execute the TA strategy under the guidance of the medical lead responsible for the allocated assets and leadership of Country Medical Lead
Plan and execute medical scientific strategic plans, as per the respective specialty role
Provide medical input to the BUs and contribute to company’s plans through actionable customers’ medical insights
Align, support and contribute to different internal stakeholders.
Is a key contributor to ensure company’s medical compliance
Provide support to both Pfizer sponsored and investigator sponsored research activities
Additional support as required by the TA medical lead/Country Medical Lead to assist with Clinical, Regulatory and Access support for pipeline and inline assets
QUALIFICATIONS
A relevant university degree in science (medical qualifications or PhD preferred)
A minimum of two years' experience in a scientific and technical capacity interacting with academics, researchers, or the medical profession
Pharmaceutical Industry experience (desirable)
Good working knowledge of relevant industry codes of conduct/practice (desirable)
Strong analytical, interpersonal and partnering skills
Ability to understand and influence in a highly matrixed environment
Demonstrated strategic business planning abilities and superior customer management skills
