Job Description
Summary
The Dileep Laboratory at the Huffington Center on Aging, Baylor College of Medicine investigates the genomic and epigenomic drivers of brain aging and age-related neurological diseases such as Alzheimer’s disease. A particular interest is in the role of DNA damage in neurological dysfunction that includes drug and radiation-induced DNA damage in cancer treatment. The lab is looking for a research technician with hands-on experience in molecular biology and cellular biology.
Job Duties
- Plans and conducts research experiments.
- Evaluates data generated from experiments.
- Acquires and implements novel technologies for research projects.
- Conducts literature search and summarizes information in an appropriate format.
- Engages in collaborations based on lab's research interests and expertise.
- Participates in lab management and maintenance.
- Works on mammalian cell culture and genetic manipulations.
- Conducts mouse husbandry, tissue dissection, primary tissue culture.
- Performs DNA, RNA, protein, and chromatin extraction, western blotting.
- Works on genomics and epigenomics assays (Hi-C, RNA-seq, etc) and sequencing library preparation.
- Conducts Fluorescence Microscopy.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a Basic Science or related field. Four years of related experience may substitute for degree requirement.
- No experience required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in biology.
- Hands on molecular biology lab experience.
- Experience with mouse models is desired.
