Principal Investigators, Dr. Nunzio Bottini, MD, PhD and Dr. Francesco Boin, MD are looking for a Postdoctoral Scientist to join their dynamic teams!
The Bottini Lab studies the pathogenesis of systemic autoimmunity, with a particular focus on scleroderma and rheumatoid arthritis. The key goal is to identify avenues for treatments of systemic autoimmunity that would be more effective and personalized while minimizing or avoiding generalized immunosuppression. Dr. Boin is a physician-scientist with extensive experience in the diagnosis and treatment of scleroderma and other fibrosing skin disorders. His research is focused on the genetic risk of scleroderma and the biology of immune cells involved in the pathogenesis of this disease.
Working independently but in close collaboration and in consultation with the Principal Investigator and other Research Scientist, the Postdoctoral Scientist will perform routine and sophisticated laboratory procedures throughout this training period. The incumbent may develop, adapt, and implement new research techniques and protocols.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- May assist in preparation of grant proposals but is not responsible for generating grant funds.
- May participate in publications and presentations as author or co-author.
- Designs and performs experiments.
- Will keep appropriate experimental records and documentation and analyze the results.
- Analyzes, interprets, summarizes, and compiles data.
- Operates and maintains equipment and instruments.
- May observe MD-patient or MD-human research subject interactions as it pertains directly to research being performed.
- Research projects for this role will have a focus on immunology and scleroderma.
Qualifications
Education:
Doctorate (MD, PhD, VMD, or DDS) in area related to field of research specialization.
Experience:
- Works independently on research projects designed by a mentor (typically the PI) within area of specialization.
- Acquires complete technical and theoretical knowledge of research project and objectives during one to five (1-5) year post-doctoral appointment.
- Demonstrated ability to perform experimental protocols and procedures, including detailed data collection, and analysis and operation and maintenance of specialized equipment.
