Job Description
Summary
The Research Administration Associate implements post award activities and programs including, but not limited to, process improvement, compliance, and/or financial reporting and tracking.The Research Administration Associate will review and analyze grant expenditures to ensure that the expenses are appropriate, allowable, within budget limits and paid in a timely manner. In addition, will also monitor cost sharing, prepare fiscal reports for sponsoring agencies, review invoices, and will work with sponsors and project managers to close out grants in a timely manner.
Employees with CRA certification are eligible for certification pay.
Job Duties
- Manage the post award activities of each award in their portfolio.
- Invoice sponsored awards per the requirements in an award agreement.
- Prepare FSR/FFR for approval to generate final invoice/report on account has termed.
- Review expenditures for allowability.
- Maintain proper documentation in support of all invoices, reporting etc. for audit and sponsor requests.
- Provide oversight in the management of all post-award grant and contract accounting, administrative, and fiscal activities.
- Work closely with pre-award central administration, academic departments, and principal investigators concerning sponsored award compliance issues.
- Provide support as needed for external audit of sponsored awards.
- Participate in orienting and training departmental administrators on awards regarding the impact and utilization of funds from federal, state, industry and private agencies.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree. Certified Research Administrator certification through the Research Administrators Certification Council (RACC) may substitute for the degree requirement.
- Two years of relevant experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business administration, Accounting, Finance
- Experience in finance, accounting, audit or grant administration
- Ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment effectively in decision-making process
