College/Department Information
The Immunology Center of Georgia (IMMCG) represents a new initiative by the Medical College of Georgia at Augusta University to leverage the ability of the immune system to combat disease. The IMMCG will accomplish this by assembling teams of biomedical researchers with strong records of scientific innovation and technological development. The IMMCG will be co-directed by world-class immunologists Drs. Catherine `Lynn' Hedrick and Klaus Ley, both of whom have made major discoveries linking immune cells to specific mechanisms of disease. The goal of the IMMCG is to produce novel and effective treatments for conditions that heavily impact the communities of Georgia and the United States. The new center is aggressively recruiting faculty and staff to lead projects focused on cardiovascular disease, obesity and metabolic disorders, autoimmune and infectious disease, neurodegenerative disease and cancer.

This candidate will coordinate and supervise a large immunology research group. The candidate will perform mass cytometry experiments for MCG faculty and perform routine maintenance of the CyTOF XT instrument. Details of the job duties are outlined below.
Responsibilities
The duties include, but are not limited to:
Functionality: The primary purpose of this position is to ensure the effective, efficient, and safe functioning of cancer and cardiovascular disease within IMMCG, Cancer Center Cores, & Cancer Immunology, Inflammation, & Tolerance.
Administration: Administration and management of a large variety of analytical equipment.
Coordination: Perform routine maintenance on the CyTOF XT. Coordinate with the Flow Core Scientific director for the design and execution of these experiments.
Maintenance: Maintenance of select prices of specialized analytical instrumentation including testing their capability, calibrating and, on occasion, overseeing the repair of the equipment.
SOP: Ensure compliance with University Systems (eg. CAMS, hazardous shipping, etc.). Compose SOPs(Standard Operating Procedures) and related documents.
PBMC Isolation: Coordinate the isolation and storage of human PBMC samples for clinical research studies in the immunology Center. Maintain a current and accurate database of these samples for laboratory use.
Advisor: Advises and assists researchers in the set up and operation of research projects and overseeing facilities, during the course of the project.
Other: Performs other related duties as directed by supervisor.
Required Qualifications
BS/BA degree, along with experience in research.
Preferred Qualifications
Demonstration of scientific excellence and collaboration as indicated by co-authored scientific publications.
B.S. in research related field with 10 years' experience or M.S. in research related field with 5 years' experience.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer software/databases.
SKILLS
Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
ABILITIES
Ability to maintain confidentiality.
Shift/Salary/Benefits
Shift: Days; Monday - Friday (Work outside of normal business hours may be required).
Pay Band: B10
Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of the selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position.
