Job Description

Summary

The Research Coordinator II will play a key role in coordinating a study focused on the effects of selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) on adolescent height growth suppression. This project is part of a new research project in the lab of Dr. Chadi Calarge. The Research Coordinator II will be responsible for preparing necessary research documentation, managing participant recruitment, and conducting research visits and data collection, among other essential duties.

The position is based at the TCH building located at 8080 N Stadium Dr, Houston, Texas 77054. It may require driving to other locations, so a valid driver’s license is necessary. Additionally, the schedule may include hours outside of 8-5pm to accommodate meetings with children and adolescent participants after school.

Job Duties

  • Develop and prepare research materials, including forms, questionnaires, and study protocols.
  • Administer surveys and forms using the web-based platform Qualtrics.
  • Prepare and submit Institutional Review Board (IRB) applications and maintain all required regulatory documentation.
  • Review patient lists from the Texas Children's Hospital System’s electronic medical record system to identify potential participants.
  • Screen potential participants for eligibility and recruit them into the study.
  • Advertise the study in psychiatric clinics outside the Texas Children's Hospital System, if necessary, to meet recruitment goals.
  • Schedule and conduct in-person research visits with participants.
  • Coordinate necessary procedures such as hand and wrist radiographs and follow-up phone calls to collect data.
  • Organize and maintain accurate records of study data.
  • Conduct data quality checks to ensure the integrity of the research process.
  • Assist with literature reviews to support ongoing research efforts.
  • Contribute to manuscript preparation and publication of study findings.
  • Performs other job duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.Four years of related experience may substitute for degree requirement.
  • One year of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in psychology.
  • Clinical research experience.
