Summary

This position will increase the quality of patient care by combining industrial/organizational psychology, occupational health psychology, and adult cognitive developmental psychology to help Department of Pediatrics (DOP) Faculty optimize departmental performance and foster holistic professional wellness. This role will provide faculty resources to support resilience and prevent professional burnout, thrive through changing demands, lead interdisciplinary and cross-disciplinary teamwork, and sustain meaningful and impactful service to the Hospital and broader communities. Holistic professional wellness and a resilient climate of psychological safety will be promoted at all stages of faculty careers and for all faculty groups.

This role will also facilitate and mentor interdisciplinary and cross-disciplinary teamwork and faculty collaborations with internal stakeholders, external partners, granting agencies, and professional associations. As a scientist-practitioner, this role will also provide operational and research support in professional wellness and occupational health psychology, as well as organizational development toward resilient high-reliability operations, for the Department of Pediatrics Faculty at Baylor College of Medicine. This position will report to the Chair of the Department of Pediatrics at Baylor College of Medicine.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in industrial-organizational psychology
  • 10+ years of experience as a consultant
  • 3+ years of experience in administrative or executive role in higher education or medical education
  • Proven record of developing and implementing programs to implement best practices in Organizational Development and Occupational Health Psychology within service-oriented or healthcare organizations (i.e., Occupational health psychology, faculty mental health and wellness, organizational and leadership development, facilitating cross-institution collaboration, assessment and selection, training and curriculum design and validation, change management, optimizing teamwork in extreme environments and high-reliability organizations, etc.).
  • Knowledge of best practices regarding faculty and employee mental health and wellbeing in extreme environments or high-reliability organizations, facilitating cross-institution collaborations, and organizational development
  • Experienced executive and faculty leadership coach
  • Proficient in Statistical and Content Analyses tactics and applications (as evidenced by peer-reviewed publications or technical reports)
  • Knowledge of (and no sanctions for violation of) the American Psychological Association's Ethical Principles of Psychologists and Code of Conduct
