What You Will Achieve

As a Scientist in the oncology research unit (ORU) organization, you will be at the center of our operations and you’ll find that everything we do, every day, is in line with an unwavering commitment to develop breakthrough therapies. You will be part of a team that is addressing the critical task to support research of Oncology and Immuno-Oncology programs entering the candidate stage and proceeding into the clinic.

You will be an essential member of this team, providing experimental support across the post-candidate ADC portfolio. You will creatively design and execute key experiments to address the biology of novel drug targets, their molecular pathways, and their connection to human disease. You will also provide operational support for the team, coordinating with the lab operations and site management teams to provide technical support for lab equipment, monitor inventory of common reagents and supplies, and serve as a subject matter expert for common core assays.

You will be using your scientific judgment to adapt standard methods and techniques by applying prior work experience and consulting others. Your ability to plan will help in preparing short-term work activities on projects. Your creativity in developing novel processes and new ideas will be used frequently.

How You Will Achieve It

  • Apply technical skills, scientific and functional knowledge to projects/ assignments in support of programs across the team.
  • Perform laboratory experiments to help establish robust disease biology, biochemical and cell-based compound screening assays and carry out in vivo evaluation across a broad array of target classes for the project teams.
  • Prepare and present experimental results to project teams.
  • Provide general operational support for team, including technical support for equipment, inventory of common lab supplies, and serve as a dedicated liaison with the lab operations and site management teams.
  • Comply with all safety training and good laboratory practices.

Qualifications

Must-Have

  • Bachelor's degree in biology and 6+ years of relevant experience in the Academic/biotech/pharmaceutical industry
  • Master's degree in molecular and cellular biology and 4+ years of relevant experience in the Academic/biotech/pharmaceutical industry
  • Solid understanding of concepts and principles of molecular, cellular, cancer, and immune biology.
  • In-depth, hands-on experience with mammalian and immune cell culture establishment, expansion, and characterization.
  • Experience with genetic modification: viral vector-based transduction, electroporation/ transfection
  • Experience in cellular and immune cell-based analytics and assay development including, but not limited to, fluorescent microscopy, flow-cytometry/sorting, cell labeling, cell proliferation assays, cytotoxicity assays, and ELISA.
  • In-depth technical expertise with various lab equipment including, but not limited to, liquid handlers (e.g. Hamilton or Tempest), Incucyte imaging systems, flow cytometers, centrifuges, cell counters, etc.
  • Ability to troubleshoot, interpret, and summarize scientific data in an accurate, critical, and concise manner.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues at all levels. Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Must be goal-oriented with the ability to handle multiple tasks and to prioritize.

Nice-to-Have

  • Experience with biological therapies for cancer treatment
  • Experience with antibody drug conjugate (ADC) therapeutics is highly desired
  • Experience with electronic notebook recording

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $74,900.00 to $124,800.00. In addition, this position is eligible for participation in Pfizer’s Global Performance Plan with a bonus target of 7.5% of the base salary.
