The strategic focus of the IMRU at Pfizer is to identify novel therapies for preventing or treating chronic cardiovascular, renal, and metabolic diseases. Our goal is to build a world-class research team of dedicated scientists committed to developing a deep mechanistic understanding of the pathways underlying disease pathogenesis.
We are seeking a Postdoctoral Fellow to join the IMRU Integrative Biology team to investigate integrative approaches that would enhance our application of human genetics and single-cell epigenomics to drug discovery. The ideal candidate must be able to independently drive their research project forward and effectively communicate their findings with scientific partners representing diverse disciplines. Knowledge and experience in either human genetics or single-cell analysis is essential, and experience researching common cardiovascular, renal, or metabolic diseases is preferred. The candidate will be expected to present their findings at scientific meetings and publish their research in a peer-reviewed journal.
How You Will Achieve It
Successful candidates will be expected to:
- Design and execute computational analyses to understand the biology underlying disease risk and mechanisms of GWAS loci through integration of genetic and single-cell genomics datasets
- Work closely with colleagues from other disciplines within Pfizer including experts in biology or machine learning
- Presentresearch findings toPfizer colleagues andthe scientific community through publications in peer-reviewed journals andtalks and postersat both internal and external scientific meetings.
Qualifications
Must-Have
- PhD in Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, Human Genetics, or related field with directly relevant experience
- Proven experience with applying standard tools and pipelines for analyzing genetics (GWAS meta-analysis, fine-mapping, colocalization, LD score regression) or large-scale single-cell (Scanpy, snapATAC2, Seurat, Signac) datasets
- Demonstrated proficiency with Python or R and experience working in a Linux/Unix high-performance computing environment
- Successful record of scientific accomplishments evidenced by scientific publications and/or presentations with at least one first-author publication in a peer-reviewed journal
