Summary
The Systems Onco-Immunology Lab (SOIL - https://www.bcm.edu/departments/surgery/research/systems-onco-immunology-lab ) in the Michael E. DeBakey Department of Surgery is seeking an enthusiastic Research Technician II to support with research projects in the field of tumor immunology and immunotherapy. The research will focus on thoracic malignancies that includes lung cancer and malignant pleural mesothelioma to identify and develop novel therapeutic approaches for these malignancies. Both human tissue samples and sophisticated animal models will be utilized and analyzed using the most advanced technologies. The Research Technician II will work under the general guidance of a principal investigator. Prior experience in the field of immunology is highly desired.
Job Duties
- Conductsand overseesin vitro or in vivo experiments using human or mouse samples.
- Assists in the experiments of other researchers.
- Manages animal husbandry and health within animal facilities, that includesgenotyping and weaning.
- Organizesexperimental schedules.
- Collects human and mice tissues/blood for single cell preparations.
- Writesregular reports that includes detailing project development, progress, and findings, and presenting these at lab meetings.
- Generatesfigures and tables for manuscripts, grants, and oral/poster presentation.
- Managestransfers and activities in collaboration with other labs.
- Maintainsantibody banks.
- Performsimmunohistochemistry, time-of-flight mass cytometry, and imaging mass cytometry.
- Conducts DNA, RNA, and protein extraction.
- Samples submissions to and pickups from the BCM or MD Anderson Cancer Center Cores.
- Inspects regularlyand maintainsall laboratory equipment and research materials.
- Manages cryo-tanks, freezers and refrigerators.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a Basic Science or related field. Four years of related experience may substitute for degree requirement.
- No experience required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in the field of immunology is highly desired.
