What Your Job Will Be Like:
We are seeking an Operations and Engineering Lead to join our Facilities and Infrastructure Systems and Analytics team! In this role, you will Interface with business leads, IT developers, project managers, software system consultants and representatives to determine important requirements in the engineering design process for IT business solutions to enable data analytics.
On any given day, you may be called on to:
- Exercise personal initiative in successfully completing assigned tasks.
- Lead and team with multi-discipline system engineers, technicians, and designers.
- Perform work in adherence to quality assurance requirements.
- Partner with management and stakeholders to convert business objectives into capabilities roadmap.
- Develop a maturity model for assessing existing capabilities.
- Perform gap analysis between needed and existing capabilities.
- Research, develop, and prioritize requirements, collaborate with project managers, meet with business leads, and create documents to enable project outcomes.
- Prioritize requirements based on stakeholder needs and best business practices.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to develop, document, and maintain the requirements integral to business systems as well as managing any changes to the requirements as necessary.
- Identify needs and enhancements to existing systems to increase operating efficiency or adapt newer requirements.
- Provide recommendation and implementation of data reliability, efficiency, and quality improvements.
- Design prototypes, wireframes, notional examples and/or pilots to incubate or refine business ideas to include data analytics, workflow diagrams, etc.
- Mine and analyze multiple data sets (Dimensional) for trends, insights, problems, etc.
- Document models, solutions, data mapping, technical specifications, data dictionaries, test cases, etc.
The selected applicant can work a combination of onsite and offsite work. The selected applicant must live within a reasonable distance for commuting to the assigned work location when necessary.
Salary Range:
$81,900 - $157,500
*Salary range is estimated, and actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate's experience and qualifications, and application of any approved geographic salary differential.
Qualifications We Require:
- Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering discipline, or other relevant field, plus 2 years of relevant experience.
- Experience with SQL, PowerBI, or Tableau.
- The ability to obtain and maintain a DOE L-level security clearance.
Qualifications We Desire:
- Ability to translate IT and business needs.
- Experience writing user stories and user acceptance testing.
- Results oriented individual who has excellent attention to detail and drives for excellence.
- A current DOE Q or L-level security clearance, or DoD equivalent.
- Demonstrated verbal and written communications.
- Demonstrated customer service skills.
- Adherence and contribution to work plan timelines, managing workflows to meet project timeframes.
- Broad understanding from a systems perspective (Systems Engineering).
- Strong Analytical and problem-solving skills.
About Our Team:
The Facilities and Infrastructure Systems and Analytics department is responsible for data engineering, analytics, technology strategy, and IT portfolio management. We drive operational excellence by applying modern systems engineering and analytical methods to our technology systems and applications. We steward the Facilities IT portfolio by providing centralized management of technology investments, projects, systems, and activities in service of strategic objectives. Our data analytics team applies the science of analyzing raw data to guide and inform operational health, performance, and strategic decision-making. We establish the processes and systems required to assess value, cost, risk, and performance of IT investments. We partner with a diverse set of stakeholders and subject matter experts to select and invest in high-value projects that are synchronized with corporate goals and business strategy.

If you have a Medical Portable Electronic Device (MedPED), such as a pacemaker, defibrillator, drug-releasing pump, hearing aids, or diagnostic equipment and other equipment for measuring, monitoring, and recording body functions such as heartbeat and brain waves, if employed by Sandia National Laboratories you may be required to comply with NNSA security requirements for MedPEDs.
