Job Description
Summary
Patient Business Services is seeking a Patient Affairs Specialist toestablish the initial patient-family contact and maintain the continuity of patient rapport.
Job Duties
- Financially clears patients for upcoming services.
- Investigates and verifies insurance coverage and eligibility for scheduled services.
- Documents detailed benefit verification information.
- Creates estimates and financially counsels patients on amount due.
- Collects patient out of pocket and documents efforts.
- Contacts external PCP offices to initiate and obtain referrals for Baylor specialists.
- Answers Insurance Verification Helpline calls and emails to resolve insurance issues for patients and clinical departments.
- Corresponds with insurance companies to review denied services and provide recourse for payment.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
- Two years of relevant experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Epic experience.
- Insurance benefit, PCP referral and authorization requirement verification experience.
