Histotechnologist - Clinical Molecular Diagnostic Laboratory (Full Time, Days)

This position reports to the manager of the Clinical Molecular Diagnostics laboratory (CMDL Lab) and CLIA director of Clinical Molecular Genomics & Cytogenomics Laboratory. This individual will possess the theoretical and practical expertise to support the operations of a busy CMDL histology laboratory. The incumbent may be asked to assist with short-term and long-term strategic operational planning of a high complexity CMDL histology laboratory. They must demonstrate behavioral skills that contribute to a productive work environment within a team approach and provide excellent customer service to the faculty and staff of City of Hope National Cancer Center to improve patient outcomes.

As a successful candidate, you will:

  • Prepare CMDL histology tissues and stained slides of high quality.
  • Assist with troubleshooting technical, processing, and CMDL histology staining issues.
  • Contribute to the maintenance of the CMDL laboratory for State, CMS, and CAP inspections, including reviewing and assisting in the writing of standard operating procedures (SOP) and participating in all laboratory inspections.
  • Support the development of new procedures.
  • Help maintain an adequate inventory/supplies for the daily operation of the laboratory based on LEAN/Six Sigma principles, such as an inventory management system of par levels.
  • Possess the skill set to work within an Electronic Laboratory Information System (LIS).

Your qualifications should include:

  • Associates degree and completion of a certified clinical program in medical laboratory sciences in histopathology or equivalent education/years of experience
  • ASCP HT or HTL

Salary / Pay Rate Information:
Pay Rate: $35.63 - $53.44 / hour

The estimated pay scale represents the typical [salary/hourly] range City of Hope reasonably expects to pay for this position, with offers determined based on several factors which may include, but not be limited to, the candidate’s experience, expertise, skills, education, job scope, training, internal equity, geography/market, etc. This pay scale is subject to change from time to time.
