What Your Job Will Be Like:
We are seeking an experienced IT Cyber Assurance Architect to join our team and provide cyber assurance expertise in support of the critical national security missions in Special Programs, we are a dynamic team that works with customers to develop, deploy and sustain unique capabilities in support of our wide variety of government mission partners.
On any given day, you may be called on to:
- Develop new cyber security plans and champion the reaccreditation of existing plans
- Perform cyber review and assessments for information technologies from across the labs
- Work closely with our Information Technology team (system administrators, network engineers, and database engineers) to provide interpretation of NIST/CNSSI requirements and guidelines along with validation testing
- Perform proactive cyber or telecommunications security assessments
- Work with team members on addressing security requirements for new capability development activities
- Capture, prioritize, and present information requested via federal cybersecurity data calls
Due to the nature of the work, the selected applicant must be able to work onsite in California.
Salary Range:
$130,100 - $258,900
*Salary range is estimated, and actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate\'s experience and qualifications, and application of any approved geographic salary differential.
Qualifications We Require:
- Bachelor\'s degree in Management Information Systems, Information Assurance, Computer Science, or other relevant computer field plus five (5) or more years relevant experience; or Master\'s degree plus one (1) or more years relevant experience; or equivalent experience in lieu of degrees must be directly related experience that demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and ability to perform the duties of the job
- Experience with at least one of the following:
- information assurance process in both unclassified and classified systems
- application (or application process) of security controls in both unclassified and classified systems
- Experience with at least one of the following:
- DOE or NNSA (or OGA) cyber security orders and policies
- Relevant federal and private standards and requirements (such as NIST, ISO, CNSS, STIGs)
- Experience with Risk Management Framework as detailed in NIST Special Publication 800-53
- Active DOE Q-level security clearance or equivalent DOD Top Secret level security clearance; and ability to obtain and maintain SCI-level security clearance, which may require a polygraph test
Qualifications We Desire:
- Experience with Splunk, SolarWinds or similar technologies
- Certified Information System Security Professional (CISSP) certification
- Experience as an Information System Security Officer (ISSO)
- Strong oral communication skills and previous technical writing experience
- Active DOE SCI security clearance (or DOD equivalent)
About Our Team:
The Special Programs Operations (SPO) Department is responsible for executing and coordinating a variety of classified efforts at SNL\'s California site. These critical efforts entail providing communications services to multiple customers. We work closely with the National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA), Department of Defense (DoD), and Intelligence Community (IC) to accomplish these efforts. The centerpiece to this effort is the manning and support of an on-site 24/7/365 Mission Support operations center. We also have charters to 1) Develop processes and procedures for the acceptance, operationalization, and accreditation of new capabilities. 2) Manage ongoing accreditation of the IT and software systems, 3) Develop of innovative IT systems to reduce the total lifecycle costs for the broad range of capabilities being executed.

Security Clearance:
Sandia is required by DOE to conduct a pre-employment drug test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, law enforcement records, and employment/education verifications. Position requires a Department of Energy (DOE) Q security clearance to start, or equivalent active security clearance with another U.S. government agency (e.g., DOD). Applicants for employment need to also be able to obtain and maintain SCI access, which requires US citizenship. SCI access may also require a polygraph examination. If you hold more than one citizenship (i.e., of the U.S. and another country), your ability to obtain these levels of access may be impacted.
Applicants offered employment with Sandia are subject to a federal background investigation to meet the requirements for access to classified information or matter if the duties of the position require a DOE security clearance. NNSA Requirements for MedPEDs:
If you have a Medical Portable Electronic Device (MedPED), such as a pacemaker, defibrillator, drug-releasing pump, hearing aids, or diagnostic equipment and other equipment for measuring, monitoring, and recording body functions such as heartbeat and brain waves, if employed by Sandia National Laboratories you may be required to comply with NNSA security requirements for MedPEDs.
