Job Description
What Your Job Will Be Like:
The RAMS Institute is seeking highly qualified undergraduate Interns to join their dynamic team for Summer of 2025! The RAMS Institute stands for Research & Applications of Mechanics of Structures (RAMS).
If you are a highly qualified undergraduate engineering student with an interest in engineering mechanics research and applications, such as vibration analysis, solid mechanics, and computational structural mechanics, consider joining our on-going programs during the summer of 2025. Students transitioning from the Junior to Senior year are preferred, however, outstanding students currently in the Freshman and Sophomore year may also be considered, space permitting. Successful candidates will be assigned a staff mentor and work as part of a team of interns from across the United States. Students will be challenged to conduct both independent and group work and will periodically present their work to staff and management.
On any given day, you may be called on to:
- Perform entry-level work within a research and development, science and engineering environment working in conjunction with Sandia staff on projects that involve applying integrated technical judgment-which requires using the scientific method to recognize and formulate problems, to collect data through observation and experimentation, and to formulate and test hypotheses.
- Supports work in the fundamentals of science and engineering while applying an understanding of engineering and scientific principles.
- Assist in the creation and application of scientific theories and laws and engineering methods used within scientific and engineering disciplines to develop or demonstrate new designs, concepts, materials, machines, products, processes, or systems.
Job assignments are focused in the area of Research and Development (R&D), and will vary based upon organization, discipline preference, and specific job requirements as defined in the job specification. Duties may include assisting R&D staff with developmental research, analysis of technology and engineering options, project design, testing, formulating conclusions, data collection, and analyzing experimental data.
This intern position is hybrid, where you will work a combination of onsite and offsite work.
