Job Description
Summary
Michael E. DeBakey Department of Surgery, Division of Trauma and Acute Care Surgery is seeking an enthusiastic Sr. Research Assistant to join a molecular immunology lab investigating fundamental mechanisms of immune dysfunction resulting from traumatic injury or sepsis. Recent focus of the lab is on neutrophil mediated NETosis and its effects on acute lung injury after trauma. We use traditional immunology techniques including flow cytometry combined with molecular biology and cloning technologies. Candidates having experience with small animal models, animal colony maintenance, and lab administration preferred.
Job Duties
- Plans, directs and conducts research experiments.
- Evaluates and analyzes data
- Develops research techniques and performs applications required for specific research projects
- Performs day to day administration of laboratory
- Helps with animal colony maintenance
- May perform small animal experiments using complex model systems
- May develop or import new animal models to the lab

Documents results of experiments and reports to Principal Investigator
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor\'s degree in a Basic Science or related field.
- Four years of relevant experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master\'s degree in a related field.
