What Your Job Will Be Like:

The Computer Integrated Manufacturing team is seeking a R&D Computer Science/Database Engineer to join our dynamic team.

On any given day, you may be called on to:

  • Serve as the engineer for mission enabling, or direct mission database solutions.
  • Use database solutions based on commercial-off-the-shelf or open-source database management software supplemented with database-related software solutions that may be either commercial-off-the-shelf, open source, or internally developed.
  • Conduct daily operations and functioning of database systems include implementing and maintaining software, tools, and processes to support the database solutions team.

The selected applicant can work a combination of onsite and offsite work. The selected applicant must live within a reasonable distance for commuting to the assigned work location when necessary.

Salary Range:

$95,400 - $185,700

*Salary range is estimated, and actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate\'s experience and qualifications, and application of any approved geographic salary differential.

Qualifications We Require:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or relevant field plus one (1) or more years of relevant experience or;
  • equivalent combination of education and experience (AS + 5 years’ exempt experience/9 years’ exempt experience)
  • The ability to acquire and maintain a DOE Q-level security clearance

Qualifications We Desire:

  • Use solutions that encompass database physical structure and functional capabilities.
  • Work independently on assignments which support organizational and Sandia projects, programs, and business operations.
  • Develop solutions to specific problems related to issues of moderate scope, complexity, and impact with either internal or external customers.
  • Make recommendations to management on policies and general business operations and activities.
  • Recommend changes to methods or processes and occasionally lead teams and participate in planning, conducting, and reporting on projects.
  • Knowledge with one or more of the following:
  • Database design, development, and management
  • Software engineering principles
  • Database security
  • Commercial-off-the-shelf or open-source database management software (e.g. Oracle, MONGO, Microsoft SQL Server, or MySQL)
  • Database performance tuning, database backup and recovery, and data modeling techniques and tools
  • Software development methodologies, tools, and processes
  • Hardware and operating systems, system architectures, and network infrastructures
  • Ability to develop database stored procedures and triggers
  • Background to develop tools, utilities, and procedures to automate maintenance functions
  • Experience with reviewing and understanding end-to-end work processes
  • Collaboration with other systems and applications developers.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills

About Our Team:

Sandia National Laboratories Microsystems and Engineering Sciences Applications (MESA) complex provides outstanding processing capability in semiconductor microfabrication. The MESA Fab facility is subdivided into 2 areas:

  1. 12,500 sq. ft., class 1 cleanroom silicon wafer fab that produces radiation hardened CMOS integrated circuit technology and micro-electromechanical (MEMs) devices2. 16,600 sq. ft., class 10 cleanroom fabrication area that produces compound semiconductor circuits and devices and back-end of line metallization and packaging

Department 05234, Computer Integrated Manufacturing (CIM) supports the programming, security and computing needs of MESA .

Posting Duration:

Security Clearance:
