We are seeking a highly motivated experienced Systems Engineer who is passionate about ES&H operations and requirements driven management systems to join our dynamic ES&H Information Management team leading our ES&H Compliance Obligations program and other projects included in the ES&H digital transformation efforts. ES&H digital transformation initiative is ES&H’s effort to modernize, reduce and consolidate ES&H information technology (IT) applications. The position requires information technology (IT) project integration supporting the development, maintenance, and maturity of high-quality software applications that ensures alignment with the Sandia ES&H management system attributes. The position provides the opportunity to collaborate labs wide with stakeholders, users, subject matter experts and partners for successful requirements integration opportunities. Partnership efforts will entail gaining an understanding and knowledge of how information technology applications and requirements processes are applied in a wide variety of Sandia research and development technology efforts and projects that will enhance labs wide ES&H culture.
On any given day, you may be called on to:
- Use structured systems approach that improves processes and adapts lean tools to ensure successful integration.
- Participate or lead multi-functional teams to facilitate solution development, implementation, and improvements aligned to mission and strategic objectives including leadership, mentorship, change management, and resourcing of other staff members.
- Participate in or facilitate structured improvement activities and lessons learned forums and integrate outcomes with the requirements application/management system.
- Interface and integrate with IT partners to ensure system functionality and operations.
- Collaborate with stakeholders, partners, and users’ labs wide to ensure effective implementation and integration of ES&H requirements, processes, and applications with research and development efforts and projects.
- Use common office software and proprietary software to compile and generate reports, presentations, statistics, timelines, tables, project plans, and graphs to support leadership in making data-driven decisions.
- Develop, implement, and maintain effective strategies, processes, and documentation for organizational change management, communication campaigns, training, and pilot methods and tactics, to support ES&H requirements applications.
- Assist in implementing and administering Sandia National Laboratories' policies and programs and provide guidance, interpretation, and assistance on a wide variety of procedures.
This position is eligible for telecommuting and the selected applicant must live within a reasonable distance for commuting to the assigned work location when necessary.
Salary Range:
$95,400 - $185,700
*Salary range is estimated, and actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate's experience and qualifications, and application of any approved geographic salary differential.
Qualifications We Require:
- Bachelor’s degree in relevant discipline plus (5) or more years of related experience; or equivalent combination of education and related experience that demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties of the job.
- Knowledge of and experience in one or more of the following areas:
- ES&H requirements, regulations, and operations
- Management systems and requirements integration and flow down
- Process analysis
- ES&H information technology programs
- Project planning
- Quality assurance principles
- Organizational change management
- The ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q-level security clearance.
Qualifications We Desire:
Ideally, we would like to see your background include some of the following:
- Master’s degree in a relevant field.
- Experience interpreting, applying, integrating, and flowing down requirements utilizing information technology platforms or management systems.
- Strong organizational, team building, facilitation, planning, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
- Knowledge of and experience in utilizing IT solutions.
- Knowledge of and experience in digital transformation.
- Instructional system design, training, and e-learning development
- Experience as Six Sigma Green or Black belt.
About Our Team:
The ES&H Strategy, Reporting, and Development organization is leading efforts in maturing the ES&H management system, ensuring integration into the Laboratories’ strategic approach and consistent deployment across the Sandia enterprise using a robust ES&H data management platform for collecting, monitoring, and measuring ES&H information.
