Job Description

Summary

A postdoctoral fellowship position in cancer immunology and immunotherapy is available at the Center for Advanced Innate Cell Therapy within the Texas Children's Cancer Center. The project aims to develop and test novel CAR-redirected immunotherapy for pediatric solid tumors. In particular, a CRISPR/Cas9-based mutagenesis screen will be applied to discover and therapeutically target novel regulators of the immune effector cell antitumor activity. We offer outstanding state-of-the-art, recently expanded laboratory facilities and a highly interactive environment for basic, translational, and clinical investigators. Candidates must have a recent PhD degree and an expertise in molecular biology and tumor immunology with a documented record of productivity.

Job Duties

  • Designs and conducts the experiments related to the project with the help of the mentor and other team members.
  • Analyzes the data and presents the evolving results at weekly laboratory meetings and research seminars of the Center for Advanced Innate Cell Therapy and the Center for Cell and Gene Therapy.
  • Records details in electronic laboratory notebook.
  • Writes technical reports and manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed scientific journals.

Minimum Qualifications

  • MD or Ph.D. in Basic Science, Health Science, or a related field.
  • No experience required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in immunology, genetic engineering or related fields.
  • Great fund of knowledge of tumor immunology principles.
  • Ability to assess scRNAseq datasets and highly parametric flow cytometry.
  • Understanding and practicing genetic engineering techniques (transfection, retroviral / lentiviral transduction, transposition, CRISPR-Cas9).
  • Viral particle assembly.
  • Excellent aseptic cell culture technique.
  • Enthusiasm and a willingness to learn in a fast-pace, collaborative environment.
  • Strong organizational skills, record keeping, and interpersonal communication skills (verbal and written).
