Job Description

Nurse Resident for our Urgent Care: 

For cancer patients with already compromised immune systems, what starts as a minor medical issue can rapidly escalate into an emergency requiring care from a team of dedicated professionals familiar with managing the side effects and complications of cancer and cancer treatment.

Moffitt Urgent Care provides expedited treatment and care 24 hours a day, seven days a week for Moffitt patients.  This allows Moffitt to treat more patients with urgent cancer related needs on-site. Moffitt Urgent Care has 27 dedicated beds.  The staff consists of a Medical Attending, Advanced Practice  Providers, Registered Nurses, Medical Office Assistants and Hospital Unit Coordinators.

The Moffitt Urgent Care medical team is fully trained to diagnose and treat many common cancer-related, medical, and surgical complications, and side effects of cancer treatment such as:

  • Neutropenic fevers
  • Infections
  • Shortness of breath
  • Intractable nausea/vomiting
  • Intractable pain

  • : New-graduate nurses will:

  • Create and enhance professional networks and relationships with peers during the residency, while honoring and developing clinical and leadership skills in a world class academic medical institution.
  • Attend scheduled eight-hour paid education days off the unit
  • The entire residency program length is 12 months with the inclusion of the unit specific orientation that is about16 weeks in length.
  • The Residency program also includes informal, one-on-one meetings at scheduled intervals throughout the program to provide additional support and to monitor the newly licensed nurse’s progress.
  • Residents will also participate in evaluation of their own individual progress as well as evaluation of the overall program.
  • All Nurse Residents will be required to sign a Commitment Agreement, agreeing to work for a minimum of two (2) years in the Cancer Center as a Registered Nurse In good working standards complying with all polices and protocols of the Cancer Center. In the event the employee does not successfully complete the Nurse Residency Program or thereafter the commitment of two (2) full years of employment in the Cancer Center a pro-rated amount of the cost for the program. Additional details will be provided with an offer.

Credentials and Qualifications:

  • New  BSN Graduate with a RN License or New Graduate without a License but with an ATT sit pass
  • BSN from an ACEN or CCNE accredited institution  
  • BCLS Certification
  • FL License
