Job Description

Summary

The Thoracic Division is hiring a research coordinator who will lead patient biospecimen collection, data entry, and maintenance of biorepository databases in the Division of Thoracic Surgery in the Michael E. DeBakey Department of Surgery. This individual will assist with laboratory tasks with a focus on processing and storage of patient biospecimen (tissue and blood).

Job Duties

  • Collects, processes, ships, and maintains paperwork for blood and tissue specimens based on procedures outlined in current protocols.
  • Maintains regulatory documents and records for research databases in conjunction with the Thoracic Division Laboratory Manager and Clinical Research Supervisor.
  • Organizes databases for reporting at biweekly meetings in conjunction with Thoracic Division Clinical Research Supervisor.
  • Coordinates collection of specimens with research personnel who are involved with scientific experiments associated with the specimens and databases.
  • May correspond with patient throughout study.
  • Orders supplies and equipment.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Three years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.
