What Your Job Will Be Like:
High Security Operations is seeking a high performing, and enthusiastic leader to manage the Cyber Security Operations organization (5197). This manager will oversee Information System Security Officers (ISSOs), Information System Security Engineers (ISSEs), and Information System Security Managers (ISSMs) supporting the SNL Field Intelligence Element . This role involves strategic planning, policy development, risk management, team leadership, as well as developing and closely managing the relationship with the Department of Energy Office of Intelligence and Counterintelligence (DOE-IN). The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of cyber security principles, a proven track record in leading teams, and the ability to align security initiatives with mission objectives.
On any given day, you may be called on to:
- Focus on delivering capabilities around information system hardening/accreditation, vulnerability assessment, risk management and forensics with a particular focus on mitigating cyber threats while providing efficient and timely service to internal and external mission partners.
- Prioritize conflicting governmental standards and advise SNL management or government accrediting authorities on a risk-based path forward that meets SNL mission needs.
- Manage with excellence in an environment with rapidly changing priorities and requirements.
- Keep people energized and projects well-managed and on track.
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with peer managers in the Field Intelligence Element and across High Security Operations, mission customers across numerous programs, oversight personnel at DOE, Sandia partners and internal and external suppliers.
- Support staff career development and training objectives.
Due to the nature of the work, this candidate must be able to work onsite. This position requires occasional travel.
Salary Range:
$149,700 - $254,400
*Salary range is estimated, and actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate\'s experience and qualifications, and application of any approved geographic salary differential.
Qualifications We Require:
- Bachelor\'s degree in information systems/assurance, cyber security, information technology, computer science/engineering or related field, plus eight (8) years of relevant experience, or Masters degree, plus 4 years experience.
- Two (2) or more years of experience in leading/managing teams, projects, or programs related to cyber security or information technology.
- Active DOE Q or DOD TS security clearance and ability to obtain SCI access which may require a polygraph.
Qualifications We Desire:
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in cyber security, with at least 3 years in a managerial or leadership role;
- An industry certification (i.e. CISSP) is highly desired;
- In-depth knowledge of ICD-503 and NIST 800-53 standards and their application in an organizational context;
- Familiarity with the Intelligence Community (IC) and its unique security requirements and protocols;
- Experience working with Federal Government Agencies such as the Department of Energy (DOE), Department of Defense (DoD), and the Intelligence Community;
- Experience with security technologies such as firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS), SIEM, and endpoint protection;
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills;
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with technical and non-technical stakeholders;
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment;
- Strong leadership skills with a focus on team development and mentorship.
About Our Team:
The High Security Operations Cyber Security Operations Organizations 05197 manages, facilitates, and supports all elements of cyber security and information assurance for the Sandia Field Intellignce Element, Strategic Intellice Partnership Programs, and infromation systems accredited by the Department of Energy Office of Intelligence and Counterintelligence (DOE-IN) .

Security Clearance:
Position requires a Department of Energy (DOE) Q security clearance to start, or equivalent active security clearance with another U.S. government agency (e.g., DOD). Sandia is required by DOE directive to conduct a pre-employment drug test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, law enforcement records, and employment/education verifications. Applicants for employment need to be able to maintain a DOE Q-level security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship. If you hold more than one citizenship (i.e., of the U.S. and another country), your ability to obtain a security clearance may be impacted.
