What Your Job Will Be Like:
We are seeking an Intern Year Round - Technical Undergrad
On any given day, you may be called on to:
- Work with engineers and technologists to develop and evaluate new design concepts for emerging explosive component applications
- Work with engineers and technologists to develop and negotiate product interfaces and requirements that balance performance, safety, and shelf-life considerations
- Work with experimentalists and modelers inside and outside of Group 7550 to characterize performance, safety, and/or shelf-life (including margin analysis) of explosive components
- Work with engineers and technologists to plans, conceives, conducts, or handles research and development for Sandia’s customers and sponsors.
- Work with engineers and technologists to conduct detailed study toward a fuller knowledge or understanding of the fundamental aspects of phenomena and of observable facts and discovers new approaches to achieve goals.
- Work with engineers and technologists to creates new understandings and capabilities by using the scientific method’s hypothesis, test, and evaluation techniques; critical review; or similar engineering research and development methods.
- Work with engineers and technologists to initiates, designs, develops, implements, and evaluates new processes, products, or systems through basic and applied research.
- Uses engineering principles to research, design, or develop structures, instruments, machines, experiments, processes, systems, theories, or technologies; to construct or operate the same with full cognizance of their design; or to forecast their behavior under specific operating conditions.
- Undertakes development and possible technology transfer of solutions, products, principles or technology.
- Undertakes creative work, making systematic use of investigation or experimentation, to discover or revise knowledge of reality, and uses this knowledge to devise new applications.
Salary Range:

Our pay structure is based on earned credit hours, classification, and degree level. Your pay rate will be determined during the hire process and included in your offer package. Qualifications We Require:
You bring the confidence and skills to be eligible for the job by meeting these minimum requirements:
- Currently attending and enrolled full time in a related accredited undergraduate program
- Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0/4.0
- Ability to work up to 25 hours per week during the academic year, and up to 40 hours per week during the summer
- U.S. citizenship
Qualifications We Desire:
- Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or another related engineering discipline
- Experience with or a willingness to learn an HDL programming language such as VHDL or Verilog
- Experience with FPGA design tools and simulators
- Experience interfacing to electronic based sensors
- Experience writing, or updating existing, embedded software to verify/test digital designs
- Electronic design for mixed signal circuits and simulation
- Design of amplifiers, analog-to-digital converters, digital-to-analog converters, digital design, power regulation circuits, or microprocessors
- Serial interface communication standards
- Excellent teaming and communication skills
- Experience using laboratory test equipment to help test and verify digital electronic hardware

Security Clearance:
Sandia is required by DOE to conduct a pre-employment drug test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, law enforcement records, and employment/education verifications.
