If you are looking for a challenging and exciting opportunity to advance your research career in cancer and virology, we invite you to join Dr. Javier Gordon Ogembo’s multi-disciplinary lab. Our lab is part of the Beckman Research Institute of City of Hope, a world-renowned National Comprehensive Cancer Center located just 20 miles from Los Angeles. City of Hope provides access to state-of-the-art facilities and resources excellent for transitional science, as well as a vibrant and collaborative research community. The Beckman Research Institute of City of Hope has several facilities that are approved by the FDA for the production of investigational drugs and biologics for use in clinical trials. These facilities are designed to meet rigorous regulatory standards and ensure the safety and efficacy of products developed at City of Hope.

As a successful candidate:

  • You will have the opportunity to access state-of-the-art facilities and resources and work alongside leading experts in the field, contributing to cutting-edge research projects aimed at advancing our understanding the mechanisms of viral entry, oncovirology, vaccinology, and studying the interactions between viruses and host cells.

Required qualifications:

  • Ph.D., DVM/Ph.D., or MD/Ph.D. degree(s) in a related field.
  • Immune cell assays: immune cell isolation (animal tissue, PBMCs), ex vivo T cell stimulation and proliferation assays, cell viability and metabolic activity assays, ELISPOT, cell migration assays, phagocytosis assays, multi-color flow cytometry immune panel analysis, and cytotoxicity assays.
  • Immuno-assays: western blot, ELISA, flow cytometry, immunofluorescence assay, immuno-histochemistry.
  • Virology assays: virus production and titration, virus neutralization, plaque assays.
  • DNA/RNA assays: DNA/RNA isolation from cells, viruses, and tissue, conventional PCR, qPCR, RT-qPCR, single cell RNA analysis.
  • Pre-clinical animal models: animal handling (mice and/or rats), immunization/challenge, bodily fluid/blood collection, tissue processing.
  • A track record of scientific productivity manifested in at least 2-3 first author publications in peer-reviewed journals.
  • Previous experience working in a GLP/cGMP- compliant laboratory settings will be an added advantage.

Salary / Pay Rate Information:
Pay Rate: $34.00 - $37.55 / hour
